Tlaxcala, from 2024 to 2027
Only Yucatán outvoted Tlaxcala in the 2024 federal deputy election: here 70.6% of registered voters turned out, 10.1 points above the national average. It was also among the states with the most annulled votes, 5.6% of the total, a rate surpassed only by Chiapas and Tabasco.
Morena took 41.9% of the valid vote. Second place, at 15.2%, went to Movimiento Ciudadano, which reached that position in only four other states. Behind them, the vote scattered: the Greens gathered 10.7%; the PAN and the PT tied at roughly 9.4%, ahead of the PRI (8.8%), and the PRD reached 4.5%, one of its five best showings, in the election after which it lost its national registration. All three districts, Apizaco (1), the capital (2) and Zacatelco (3), were won by Sigamos Haciendo Historia, with gaps of 29.8 to 41.3 points; together, its three parties added up to 62.0%, versus 22.8% for the PAN, PRI and PRD. Movimiento Ciudadano, second in the statewide vote, was not runner-up in any district: Fuerza y Corazón por México held that spot in all three.
In 2027 the state renews its governorship, with no vote from abroad for that office, all 25 legislative seats and 60 town councils. It also elects 299 community presidents, an office that on that day's calendar is voted only in Tlaxcala. With an electoral roll of 1,085,019 people in October 2026, it is small in voters but its local ballot covers four types of office.
