San Luis Potosí, from 2024 to 2027

San Luis Potosí is the only state where the Green Party led the 2024 federal deputy vote: it won 34.3% of the valid vote. Morena, second with 23.4%, posted its lowest share in the country here. The PAN came third with 16.8%, Movimiento Ciudadano gathered 10.1% and the PRI stopped at 9.0%; further down were the PT (3.4%) and the PRD (2.9%).

Because the PVEM ran in coalition with Morena and the PT in all seven districts, that vote fed into the joint candidacy: Sigamos Haciendo Historia won six, with leads of up to 54.1 points in Tamazunchale (7), the state's Indigenous district. The exception was district 5, in the city of San Luis Potosí, where Fuerza y Corazón por México prevailed by 5.5 points; in the six the coalition won, that same alliance finished second. Together, the three allies added up to 61.2%, more than twice the PAN-PRI-PRD alliance's 28.7%.

In 2027 San Luis Potosí chooses a governor (residents abroad can take part), renews its 27-seat congress and votes for 59 municipal councils. Its 2024 turnout, 61.9%, topped the national figure by 1.4 points; spoiled ballots reached 5.1% of the total, among the highest in the country. The balance inside the coalition, with the Greens ahead of Morena, is what sets this state apart: nowhere else was the PVEM the most-voted party.
