Nuevo León, from 2024 to 2027
In 2024 Nuevo León was the only state where Movimiento Ciudadano drew more federal deputy votes than any other party: 26.7% of the valid vote, ahead of Morena (25.8%) and the PAN (22.5%). The PRI added 14.0%, one of its best shares in the country. Well behind were the Greens (5.7%) and the PT (4.1%), and the PRD stopped at 1.2%. For Morena, it was its second-lowest share among the 32 states.
First place in votes did not translate into districts: Movimiento Ciudadano, running without allies, won none of the 14, though it came second in eight. The two coalitions, counting all their parties, each drew more votes, 37.7% for the PAN, PRI and PRD and 35.5% for Morena, the PT and the PVEM, and split the districts evenly, seven apiece. Fuerza y Corazón por México won, among others, Santa Catarina (1), San Nicolás de los Garza (4) and two of the three seated in Monterrey (6 and 10); Sigamos Haciendo Historia took General Escobedo (3), García (7) and Juárez (12). District 11, based in Guadalupe, was settled by 0.2 points in favor of Fuerza y Corazón por México, one of the two narrowest margins in the country.
Nuevo León's governorship is up in 2027, together with the 42 seats of its congress and its 51 municipal councils. In 2024, 56.6% of the roll voted, 3.9 points under the country as a whole. Anáhuac, on the border with the United States, observes daylight saving time, so on election day its polling stations open an hour earlier than in the rest of Nuevo León.
