Hidalgo, from 2024 to 2027

In Hidalgo the Sigamos Haciendo Historia coalition barely existed in 2024: Morena, the PT and the PVEM fielded a joint candidate only in district 2, seated in Ixmiquilpan, and in the other six each party ran its own. Even without its allies, Morena won those six districts, and the coalition took district 2 by 50.5 points. Fuerza y Corazón por México, which did run united in all seven, came second in six.

The state's other distinctive feature is the weight of the PT. It won 11.7% of the valid vote, its third-highest share in the country, and in district 1, seated in Huejutla de Reyes and classified as Indigenous, it finished second with 20.7% of the votes cast there, behind Morena. Statewide, Morena gathered 48.5% and the PRI, in second, 12.4%; Movimiento Ciudadano, the Greens and the PAN ranged between 9.3 and 7.8%, and the PRD did not get past 1.7%. Of those registered, 64.3% turned out, seventh among the 32 states, and spoiled ballots, at 5.0% of the total, were above the national average.

Hidalgo does not choose a governor in 2027. It does elect a 30-seat legislature and 84 municipal councils, along with its seven federal seats. In 2024 the decision to run together or apart was made district by district, producing a map in which the PT became the second force in one of them; the 2027 coalition agreements will show how the parties line up this time.
