Guanajuato, from 2024 to 2027
Guanajuato is one of three states where the PAN was the most-voted party in the 2024 federal deputy election, along with Aguascalientes and Querétaro. It won 39.1% of the valid vote against Morena's 36.0%, and with its allies the lead grew: the Fuerza y Corazón por México parties gathered 47.3%, versus 44.8% for those of Sigamos Haciendo Historia. Movimiento Ciudadano came third (7.9%), and the PT had its lowest share in the country here, 2.8%.
Even so, the district map came out almost the other way around. Sigamos Haciendo Historia won 8 of the 15; Fuerza y Corazón por México took 5, and the PAN, which ran without the PRI and PRD in three districts, picked up 2 more on its own. All four districts seated in León went to the PAN or its alliance, by margins of up to 33.1 points; the Morena-led coalition, by contrast, won in Salamanca, Celaya, Uriangato and Acámbaro, among others. The state's closest race was district 9, in Irapuato, settled by 2.2 points in favor of the PAN's alliance.
There is no governor's race in Guanajuato in 2027. Locally, 36 congressional seats and 46 municipal councils are up, and the 15 federal deputies are elected in the same districts as in 2024. It ranks sixth nationally by size of electoral roll, with 5,007,622 people as of October 2026. Turnout in 2024 was 56.4%, 4.1 points below the national average.
