Colima, from 2024 to 2027
Behind Morena, the most-voted party with 38.6% of the valid vote, Colima left three parties nearly tied in 2024. Movimiento Ciudadano won 16.5%, with the PRI at 15.4% and the PAN at 15.1%: just 1.4 points separated second place from fourth. Both Movimiento Ciudadano and the PRI posted one of their five best federal deputy results in the country here. Further down came the PVEM at 7.5% and the PT at 4.6%, with the PRD, which later lost its national registration, at 2.4%.
That fragmentation did not carry over to the districts: Sigamos Haciendo Historia won both. In district 1, seated in the state capital, its lead over the PAN-PRI-PRD alliance was 3.4 points; in district 2, based in Manzanillo, the gap was 34.4. Combined, the PAN, PRI and PRD drew 32.8% and Morena with its two allies 50.6%, while Movimiento Ciudadano, which ran without a coalition, sat outside both blocs. Turnout came in at 57.9%, 2.6 points below the national figure.
In 2027 Colima elects a governor, with voting from abroad for that office, and renews its 25-member congress and its 10 municipal councils. It has the smallest electoral roll of all 32 states: 604,280 people as of October 2026. District 1, the capital's, goes into this election after a narrow result last time, and the federal ballot will carry two parties that did not exist in 2024, SOMOS and PAZ, alongside the six returning ones.
