What does Partido PAZ propose?

Partido PAZ is a new party that brings together leaders and members of the former Social Encounter Party (PES), which lost its registration in 2018 and, as Encuentro Solidario, in 2021. The INE registered it on 25 June 2026, with effect from 1 July. It is chaired by Hugo Eric Flores Cervantes, founder of the PES, elected at the party’s first congress on 22 August 2026; to lead it he took leave from his seat in the Morena group. Its documents define it by “social liberalism”; analysts place it on the conservative right. It has no deputies.

It is running for the first time in 2027 and, by law, without coalitions. As a new party, it needs 3% of the vote to keep its registration. Its positions come from its founding documents: making the family the main institution promoted by the state, defending life as “the natural right par excellence” and security based on prevention and community policing.

PAZ has a position on 45 of the 45 test questions, across 12 topics: 15 in favor, 23 in between and 7 against. Of these, 12 are based on a linked document and 33 are estimated. Take the test to find out how well you match PAZ.

Reading the positions of PAZ

Of the eight parties on the ballot, the PAZ party is the hardest to measure. It has existed as a national party since July 1, 2026; it has no deputies or votes of its own, and it has yet to file an electoral platform, expected in January 2027. Of its 45 answers, only 12 rest on a document or a statement; the other 33 are estimated from its 2026 founding documents. When those texts do not address an issue, the estimate tends to stay at the midpoint, which is why this party appears close to the average almost everywhere: only one of its 45 answers sits at an end of the scale; 23 are intermediate, 15 agree and just 7 disagree. Everything below is provisional.

What is documented sketches a profile that is more social than ideological. Its program wants social policy to guarantee everyone a minimum floor of well-being instead of being limited to targeted measures, each state to run its own social policy in coordination with the federal government, and decisions to be built from the community up. On security, it wants pretrial measures reviewed person by person and defends the presumption of innocence, while proposing data analysis and artificial intelligence to anticipate crime, with personal data protected. It asks for technical and budgetary autonomy for audit bodies and proposes issuing bonds to rebuild the pension system. Its only answer at an extreme is environmental: it fully supports making polluters pay, through progressive environmental taxes earmarked for climate mitigation; it also offers tax incentives to firms adopting clean energy, and its second most distant theme is "Energy and environment" (0.63 points).

Its theme furthest from the rest is "Rights and freedoms" (1.52 points), and there caution is at its highest: five of six positions are estimated. The only sourced one is abortion. In a July 2026 interview its legal representative accepted that abortion is a right in the states that allow it, but announced that the party will keep promoting pro-life initiatives, and its declaration presents life as the foremost natural right; hence its disagreement with legalizing it nationwide. The others (adoption by same-sex couples, marijuana, trans people's paperwork and euthanasia) are inferred from how its declaration and its legal representative describe marriage, the family and drugs, and on all of them it lands on the same side as the PAN.

In its own documents, PAZ calls its ideology social liberalism, defends the secular state and says it takes stances from both right and left. Its president, Hugo Eric Flores Cervantes, founded the former PES and sat as a deputy from 2024 to 2026 within Morena's caucus; the leadership rejects the idea that PAZ is a satellite of that party, and in 2027 it will run alone, because the law bars coalitions in a party's first election. In the little that can be compared, it does not clash with the PAN on any of the 11 statements sourced for both, while with the PT it is on the opposite side of 3 out of 12, among them automatic pretrial detention and the autonomous bodies. Counting estimates as well, its highest match is with the PRI and the PAN (76% each), and its lowest with Morena (67%).
